Q: How do I know if I have timber worth anything?
A: If your stand of timber is large enough that you cannot reach around the trees and touch your fingers, you probably have a marketable stand of timber. Timber 16 inches and larger at chest height would definitely be worth getting a timber estimate.

Q: How do I get paid for my timber?
A: After evaluating how much your timber is worth, we can write you a check that same day.

Q: Will they cut all my trees down?
A: Certainly not! A timber sale contract will be discussed and completed, specifying the terms of the sale and description of the size of the trees to be harvested. All questions will be answered before any harvesting begins.

Q: How will selective cutting help my land?
A: Manageable income ! Removing mature timber while still valuable. Harvesting timber utilizes a valuable resource and not letting it go to waste. Selective cutting will allow smaller trees grow better for future sales. Selective cutting is a great management tool for the future of your forest.

Q: When should I sell my timber?
A: One sign that a timber harvest is necessary, is when you notice your stand of timber is going bad. Trees will show signs of rotting and will begin to fall over. Your timber will need to be harvested before it is too late ! When managing your timber on large tracts of land, harvesting is very beneficial. When you remove mature trees and larger diameter timber, it will promote growth for the smaller stands for future sales. Allowing more space and sunlight, therefore less shade, will keep your forest stands growing in the right direction.

Q: What steps are taken to minimize damage?
A: All of our loggers are state certified loggers. Denoon Lumber hosts their own logging chapter meetings, working closely with Jefferson County's Water & Soil offices. BMP's (Best Management Practices) will be carried out to minimize erosion and maintain an acceptable water quality within the property being harvested. All harvesting will be carried out with high concerns towards maintaining good relations with the landowner.
